Wisconsin Department of Health Services Consumer Guide:  Resources for Older Adults

Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of the North - The ADRC helps people understand the various long-term care options available to them, serves as the access point for publicly-funded long-term care (Family Care and IRIS), helps people apply for programs and benefits, and helps make connections to community resources.  Call the ADRC of the North at 1-866-663-3607 or visit online at https://adrc-n-wi.org/

Bayfield County Alzheimer's Services - This program helps respond to the stress and service needs of families caring at home for someone with irreversible dementia. To be eligible, a person must have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder, and be financially eligible. Limited funding may be available, depending on the county's priorities and the person's need for services. Typical services have included in-home help, respite care, adult day care, and transportation. The Alzheimer's/Dementia Helpline is available 24 hours daily: 1-800-272-3900.

Bayfield County Congregate Senior Dining and Home Delivered Meals

Bayfield County Supportive Home Care & Chore Services - Assistance with household tasks can be provided to adults age 60 and those with physical disabilities. The individual requesting assistance will need to have an assessment to determine their functional and potential financial eligibility for the services.Services may include:

  • Housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Errands
  • Grocery Shopping

Bayfield County Transportation Services - Barnes/Drummond/Cable Area Route to Hayward 
A small bus operated by Namekagon Transit provides weekly service on Tuesdays from the Barnes, Drummond and Cable communities to Hayward. Door Stop Service may be arranged along the established Door Stop route.  There is a nominal fee charged for this service. For reservations or cancellations please call Namekagon Transit’s Dispatch Office at (715) 634-6633 option 1 or (866) 296-9599 option 1.  Please use the link above for additional information.

Wisconsin Senior CareSeniorCare is a program for Wisconsin residents who are 65 or older and need help paying for medicine. The program helps seniors pay for prescription drugs and vaccines. You can apply for SeniorCare the month you turn 65. Once you’re 65, you can apply at any time. Coverage begins the month after you apply.
