EWM Committee meeting

Monday,  August 18, 2008, 2008    6:30 p.m.

Barnes Town Hall

Ingemar Ekstrom called the meeting to order. Members present: Ingemar Ekstrom, Barb Romstad, David Pease, Mitch McGee, Patti Joswick, Jim Joswick, Pamela Toshner, Lee Wiesner

Absent: Stefania Strzalkowska, Gerald Gustafson

Also Present: Doug and Kathy White, Linnea Dunkel, Bev Lowery, Bryan and Cathy Bennett

Agenda items:

1.      Minutes from the July Meeting

Minutes from the last meeting were reviewed. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Dave Pease, seconded by Lee Wiesner; approved.

2.      Clean Boats Clean Waters Program

Ingemar reminded everyone to document and submit their volunteer hours. Barb will initiate the thank you notes to volunteers and POA contributors to the program. Pam and Scott are hosting a party at their house for all the volunteers.

3.      EWM presentation – John Skogerboe

John presented a program on the recent treatment of Tomahawk Lake.

Several people asked about having their well water tested. The Army Corps will test the well water of any resident of Tomahawk Lake who wants it done. Pamela will draft a letter to send to the residents of both lakes advising them how to get their wells tested.

Patti Joswick asked if the summary report of the control of Tomahawk Lake can be supplied to the tax assessor. Some discussion followed concerning land assessment concerns.

4.      Resolution NR-40

The committee will support the passing of the resolution NR-40 and send a letter in its support. It addresses the spread of exotic species in the state, both aquatic and land.

5.      Musky Tournament October 3^rd through 5th

Some discussion followed concerning manning the boat landings during this event. We’ll ask Jack if he’ll co-ordinate a volunteer group.

6.      Next Meeting Date

Next meeting date is September 15, 2008 at 6:30 PM at the Barnes Town Hall.

Motion to Adjourn: Dave Pease, seconded by Mitch McGee; approved.
