Minutes of the Town of Barnes Planning Commission

Of March 13, 2008

4:00PM

Planning Commission members present: Gene Ratzel, Diane Rupnow, Donna Porter, Dave Pease, Dick Webb.

Alternate present: Duke Marten

Also present: Shelby Woodard, Kay Leppien, Bill Woodard, Dick Collyard, Dale Turbeville, Brett Harper, Sara Haakenson, Peggy Kman, Jon Harkness, Ingmar Ekstrom, Chris Lane, Leslie Hall.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gene Ratzel. Agenda read.

Roll call to establish quorum.

Motion (Pease/ Porter) to approve agenda. Motion carried.

Motion ( Porter/ Pease) to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, and to approve the minutes. Motion carried.

Public Comments:

Jon Harkness spoke on behalf of the Property Owner’s Association opposing the variance being reviewed today.

Ingmar Ekstrom spoke in opposition of the variance, considering the septic, road issues, stormwater runoff.

Chris Lane spoke in opposition of the variance.

Shelby Woodard spoke in opposition of the variance.

Leslie Hall spoke in opposition of the variance.

Zoning, Land Use Applications:  

Pollock Lake, LLC, owner and Sara Haakenson, Peggy Kman, agents. Place a residence and attached garage on a substandard lot of record requiring a variance and special exception.

 Motion (Pease/ Porter) to deny the request for the variance.  Discussion followed. Peggy Kman spoke that it is a buildable substandard lot of record. There is an accepted offer of purchase on this lot contingent upon approval of the variance.

Roll call vote: Donna, Yes: Diane, Yes: Dave, Yes: Duke, No: Gene, Yes. Dick excused himself from the discussion and vote. Motion carried.

Reports: Gene referred to a letter from Mark Holm complimenting the Commission for their efforts.

Motion (Porter/ Marten) to adjourn. Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 4:40pm.
