Town Community Center Committee

2007 - 2008

A committee is being formed for the purpose of proposing a new Town Complex. Possibilities include, but are not limited to: a new Town Hall; a Senior Center which may include a kitchen,  exercise and meeting rooms; a Public Library; a Museum sponsored by the BAHA (Barnes Area Historical Assoiciation; a medical facility; a Recreation Center; centralized town offices such as Clerk, Constable, Board, EMS, Recreation, and other functional offices as needed.  Other additions or functions can be suggested for consideration. 

Various aspects of this building complex were suggested in responses to the survey conducted by the Land Use Planning Committee when researching objectives for the Town Land Use Plan.  Some goals related to this complex as determined by the Citizens Advisory Committee Groups  were:  a Community Center; Centralized business district "Main Street";  Library; Health Care Facility; Recreation Center; and others.  In the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, many of these were cited as future projects and goals.  The Town Complex Committee can refer to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan for additional points to be considered.
