MINUTES OF THE

TOWN OF BARNES

ROAD COMMITTEE MEETING

FEBRUARY 8, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM.  The purpose of this meeting was to organize the road committee.

Those present were committee members:  Mitch Mcgee, Jack Meinke, Dick Webb, Greg Martin and Jerry Witt.  Also present were Dick Collyard, Gene Ratzel and Dave Pease.

An Election of Officers was held.  Greg Martin was nominated for Chairperson, a vote was unanimous and Greg Martin will chair the Road Committee.  Dick Webb was nominated for Secretary, a vote was unanimous and Dick Webb will act as Secretary of the Road Committee.

The purpose of the Highway Committee is to establish a standard road policy that will address the Town of Barnes responsibilities as outlined in State Statute Chapter 82 Town Highways.  This policy will be presented to the Town Board of the Town of Barnes for approval and to be adopted as part of Town Policies. 

A general discussion was held outlining current conditions and potential road right-of-way problems.

The Committee will address the following issues:

• Road Standards           
• Existing
• Future
• Public Education
• Right of Way Clearing
• Right of Way Maintenance
• Variances
• Definitions & Identification
• Primary Roads
• Secondary Roads
• 3 Rod Roads
• 4 Rod Roads

The Road Committee will meet on the 2^nd and 4^th Thursdays of each month at 2:00 PM at the Town Hall.  The next meeting will be held February 22^nd.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM.
