Special Town Board Meeting July 26, 2011
MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING Of July 26, 2011 Chair Lu Peet called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at 1:00PM. Roll call was taken and all were present except Donna Porter. Clerk-Treasurer Brustad verified the meeting was posted as required. The agenda for the meeting is as follows: Agenda 1) Closed Session. The Town Board of the Town of Barnes will meet in regular session to go into a closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The board will reconvene to the regular session immediately after the closed session. The purpose of this closed session is to review applicants for the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer position. 2) Discussion and possible action on purchase of radios for the highway department Motion (Meinke/Webb) to go into closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Roll call vote taken and all present responded yes. Motion carried. The Board adjourned to closed session at 1:02 PM. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to return to open session. Motion carried. The board returned to open session at 4:05PM. There were no motions made in closed session and the board discussed only items pertaining to the statute listed. The next meeting will be at 5:00PM on July 27, 2011 for four more interviews. Bob Lang reported the bid from DSL Communications for 10 radios would be around $4,500.00, not what was reported on the quotation of $8,124.25. Tom Renz indicated Ken Wilk would be able to install the radios, which would save around $3,500.00 from the quote. Bayfield County will be going to narrow band the 1st of September, so we won’t need to take delivery until after that time. He also mentioned he would need 11 radios, not 10. The monies will come from the highway roads outlay budget. Motion (McGee/Webb) to approve the purchase of 11 radios for up to $5,500.00. This does not include the labor to install them. If the amount is higher the board will have to address the added amount. Roll call vote taken and all present responded yes. Motion carried. Motion (Webb/McGee) to adjourn the meeting of July 26, 2011. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 4:25PM. Respectfully Submitted, Elaine Brustad Clerk-Treasurer Dated this 27th Day of July, 2011
