Minutes July 19, 2010

 

Ingemar Ekstrom called the meeting to order.

Members present: Ingemar Ekstrom, Barb Romstad, Dave Pease, Pamela Toshner, Stefania Strzalkowska, Sally Pease

 

Ingemar reviewed the minutes from the last meeting. A motion to accept the minutes for the June 20^th meeting was made by Dave Pease, seconded by Ingemar; passed.

 

Things seem to be going well with the program. Sally has been recruiting some new volunteers. She talks to people at the landings and thought that some people expressed interest at the POA meeting on Saturday.

 

Pamela and Stefania have put a lot of time in preparing the EWM grant for 2011, 2012 & 2013. It appears that we will be a submitting three grant requests: a one year grant, a three year grant and a combination Sand Bar Lake control/CBCW grant. Ingemar will present the grant documents at the Town Board meeting tomorrow night and will summarize the grant information for the group as support for the resolution for the Town of Barnes to support and sponsor the grant.

 

The final early detection response plan is complete and will be posted soon.

 

a.       We did receive the $1,000 from the Douglas County Land & Water Conservation Committee.

b.      The DNR aquatic plant assessment took place on Tomahawk and Sand Bar Lakes on Saturday. No EWM was found on Tomahawk Lake. They also did a survey of the native plants; it appears that some of the natives are returning however the actual data will be released in the next several weeks.

c.       The cost of unemployment for the landing monitors in the off-season will be included in the grant request.
