MINUTES OF THE
Of
Chair Lu
Peet called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at
Agenda
1)
Ordinances: The Town Board will review all ordinances and
set new fees in Chapter 5.
2)
Discussion on Constable position.
Constable
Mike O’Keefe was present for the meeting also, so the Board elected to discuss
the Constable position first while he was present. There was discussion on what would be needed
to make the constable position an appointed one, and Clerk-Treasurer Brustad
will check with the requirements with the town’s attorney, John Carlson. O’Keefe said he basically thought it should
be an appointed position because there is extensive training needed to keep it
at the level it is currently at. We
basically are a police department according to the State DOJ. Mike said he
didn’t agree with how it went down at the last Annual meeting but he did agree
it should not be an elected position.
The Board felt 50-60 hours per month would be required for an appointed
position, mainly weekends.
After
starting to review the ordinances, it was felt that a few should check out the
County’s ordinances first to see if we could delete some of ours. Chris, Donna and Lu will review the county
ordinances and the Board will meet again to discuss how to proceed.
Motion ( Webb/Meinke) to adjourn the meeting of

Submitted,

Brustad
